Built in New England. Backed by our own crews.

MJS Construction Inc. is a licensed general contractor based in Middleton, Massachusetts, specializing in the restoration of masonry and carpentry on New England’s older buildings. Since 2012, we’ve restored 100+ year old buildings to small home renovations across Massachusetts.
What separates us is that we don’t broker the work out. Masonry, carpentry, excavation, site work, and HVAC are all in-house MJS divisions. One contract, one schedule, one crew accountable to you — including FHA 203(k) renovation loan projects, Insurance projects, 100-unit rehab renovations and everything in between.

Four divisions.
One general contractor.

Most contractors your size subcontract everything but their own trade. We built the opposite. Every division below is staffed by MJS employees, scheduled by MJS, and answerable to the same project manager.

Masonry

Foundation trade

Brick, block, stone, and concrete — new construction and restoration. We repoint and rebuild chimneys, repair and replace brick foundations, install lintels and steel, and match historic brick and mortar on buildings dating back to the 1800s. Waterproofing, retaining walls, concrete flatwork, tile, and masonry accent walls round out the division.

Carpentry

Structural & finish

Structural and finish carpentry, from sill and joist replacement to framing, decks, porches, siding, trim, and interior buildouts. On restoration work our carpentry and masonry crews sequence together — so when a rotted sill is exposed behind failing brick, both trades are already on site.

Excavation

Site prep

Excavation, grading, drainage, foundation digs, utility trenching, and site prep. Having this in-house means no waiting on an outside excavator to open a hole before the masonry crew can start — a common two-week delay we simply don't have.

Ask us about: foundation excavation · drainage & French drains · grading · utility trenching · site prep

Site Work

Site prep

Most contractors our size subcontract everything. At MJS, we are built to do the opposite. Every division is staffed by MJS employees, scheduled directly by MJS, and accountable to our team of dedicated Project Managers. Keeping the work in-house gives us greater control over scheduling, quality, coordination, and accountability from start to finish.

Ask us about: in-house crews · coordinated scheduling · multi-trade projects · direct project management · quality control

HVAC

New division

Heating, cooling, and ventilation — installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance for homes and commercial buildings. Our specialty is retrofitting modern HVAC into older New England buildings without tearing them apart, which is exactly the problem our masonry and carpentry crews solve every day.

Ask us about: ductless mini-splits · high-velocity systems for older homes · furnace & boiler replacement · AC installation · commercial rooftop units · service & maintenance
